This author has been inventing imaginary places all his life, starting as soon as he could hold a crayon or pencil. In 1996, he got his first home computer and has not stopped playing with this new toy since. Several of these imaginary compositions were found in file folders that have been kept around for ages, others were written specifically for the Internet. Hope you enjoy them. -- G.S.

METL, the Marshmount Estate Trust Ltd., was established in 1913 when the last known member of the ancient Marshmount family disappeared while on safari in Tanganyika. Its purpose was, and is, to maintain the feudal estates, which include several castles, in perpetuity or until such time as an heir shall appear, or be appointed by the Monarch. In 1997, the heir was found and acknowledged, and he is determined that the Trust shall continue, albeit with more aggressive management.

Prefatory note: Originally, this web site consisted of a guide to Marshmount Castle on space provided by Grobius Shortling (who has connections with the castle and compiled the guide). Later, a web page about Guichardo's Folly within the castle was added. This was followed by items relating to Seth Pottlebury, who has been acclaimed as the inheritor of the Estate. A web page about Upchuck Lodge in Scotland was posted next. Various sub-pages, such as this one, were put in when the Marshmount Castle pages were moved to GeoCities. More recently (August 1998), a guide to Gwernogle Castle (Nant-y-Gof Bwlch) in Wales was created for this site. And in August 1999, we acquired the feudal rights to the Isle of Farnish and founded a travel agency.

As of August 26, 1999, Marshmount Estates is now a DOMAIN (i.e., we have a dot.com, which is of course marshmount.com). Big time, eh? This site will be expanding considerably in the future, especially if more of you come and visit on the Internet.
